Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kampala (Buganda Heritage & Urban Culture)

Your driver guide will pick you up in the morning at the airport or hotel and transfer to Kampala city where you will visit the Kasubi Tombs (UNESCO Heritage Site) to learn about Buganda Kingdom’s history after you head to the Kabaka’s Palace and the Idi Amin Torture Chambers for insights into Uganda’s past. Have a traditional lunch at a local hotel (local dishes like luwombo) and then head to Mengo & Lubaga Cathedrals showcasing colonial-era architecture. In the late evening we shall attend a Ndere Troupe performance showcasing traditional dances from different Ugandan tribes.

Day 2: Transfer to Jinja – Source of the Nile & Basoga Culture

After your early morning breakfast ,you will transfer to jinja (2-hour journey).Visit the Source of the Nile where you will have a boat cruise on the Nile while you learn about its historical significance. Have lunch at hangout restaurant and then visit the Basoga community for a hands-on experience in traditional music, storytelling, and crafts.

Day 3: Transfer to the land of Karamoja with the stopover at Uganda railway museum

Have you heard of a saying in Uganda that “we shall not wait for the Karamojong’s to develop . ” On this day you will get to know why the saying exists. Early morning after breakfast you set off to Karamoja with a stop over the Uganda railway museum (learn about the history of the railways in East Africa and most especially Uganda).Then we shall embark on our journey having lunch along the way.

Day 4: A full day in Karamoja .

After the hearty breakfast we shall proceed Karamoja communities ,visit a Manyatta (traditional homestead) and experience Karamojong warrior culture, cattle herding, and storytelling. In the afternoon we shall participate in traditional dance and bead-making workshops. In the evening we have a traditional barbecue under the stars with local elders sharing folk tales.
